A classic gothic

This is one of Michaels's finest, in my opinion, tied with _Black Rainbow_ for my favorite among her gothics. If you prefer her contemporary romantic suspense novels like _The Dancing Floor_, this is probably not for you. If, however, you love _Jane Eyre_ and books in the true gothic tradition--a sympathetic, adventurous heroine; a sinister villain; a bleak nineteenth-century setting; and increasing suspense and danger--this is a must-read. Michaels also offers her trademark enhancements of the formula in the shape of an engaging, humorous, and genuinely likeable hero (no brooding churl!) and welcome touches of humor. I find the heroine especially enjoyable, unlike Michaels's more recent heroines, who are more abrasive, defensive, and unsympathetic. This is perfect rainy-day or winter reading. If you listen, you can hear the howling of the wolves...

Amazing!

I have read this book numerous times, and each time it gets better. I even bought a hardcover copy because my paperback version is dog-eared and bent in several places because of how many times I have read it. The heroine in this book is especially likeable as is the hero. Even the villian is somewhat likeable because of the talent of the author. This book is in my opinion Barbara Michaels finest work and I have read all her books. Other books I would recommend by this author are "Here I Stay" and "Vanish with the Rose". Also by her other pseudonym Elizabeth Peters, I would recommend the Vicky Bliss mysteries.

The wolf within Mrs. Michaels

Sons of the Wolf has to be Barbara Michaels greatest novel yet. This novel is full of myster and drama.
The novel begins with two sisters Harriet and Ada who have just become orphaned by their grandmother, and are forced to live with a distant cousin. In it they discover two bothers who are total oppostes and who have secrets themselves. Yet the main question circulating throughout the novel is, who is the true wolf trying to devour the innocent sheep like sisters. If you love mystery and dramam I highly recommend you read this novel.

Camilla is a genius!

Really enjoy this book. I know I can always trust her recipes no matter what she is cooking up. I have tried at least 15 so far and plan on a lot more. I like they are simple yet delicious. One of my favorites is the chicken parmisan sliders; page 157. I've made these 4 times so far. Another hit with my husband is the Italias Sausages, Peppers and Onions; page 166.. There were some left over so he took them to work the next day for lunch. He said one of the guys who works there came into his office to see what he had. The guy said it smelled just like the sausages and peppers at the fair. And I can say they taste great. Everything has turned out beautifully and I am eager to try more. I bought two other fryer cookbooks before I got this one. (Forgot to check if Camilla had one on air frying.) I hardly open either one since this one entered my home. I think you will be quite pleased if you perchase this.

many recipes in this book that are great for me to try

So far, this cookbook was exactly what I needed to start enjoying my new air fryer. I'm a vegetarian, and there are many, many recipes in this book that are great for me to try. I used a Blooming Onion recipe on a yellow squash I happened to have, and it was the most delicious, crunchy result I've ever had. You need to be willing to check the times to make sure you don't overcook whatever you're making, but I think that's just a smart way to cook. I'd recommend this book to anyone with an air fryer.

I am soooo thrilled to have my own copy of this book. Grandma's autobiography speaks in her own, often lyrical, charming voice. Every American should hear (read) her talk. I recently received a review copy of Keep It Vegan: Over 100 Simple, Healthy & Delicious Dishes by Áine Carlin, and am sharing my favorite recipe, mac n’ no-cheese with crispy kale because if there’s one stereotype about vegans that rings true, it is our undying love of kale. If this cookbook and my cookbook went to high school together, they probably wouldn’t have hung out. Keep It Vegan is very lady-like, where as my book has several references to Cannibal Corpse and Skeletonwitch. However, if these cookbooks were to meet again after college, I believe they would become friends over the common love of vegan tacos. This is a really good vegan cookery book. It would appeal to lots of people, meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike I would suspect. None of the recipes are too difficult, the instructions are clear and easy to follow and there are a large number of good pictures so you can get an idea of what the finished product should look like. Note, there are not pictures with every single recipe.

What I really like about the recipes in this book is that none of them (that I haves come across anyway) require the use of ingredients that are hard to get hold of. Pretty much everything used is likely to be considered 'normal' everyday food which any supermarket will sell. This can be difficult in so e of the vegan cookery books I own - many seem to demand ingredients which are harder to find and can be expensive.

My cooking so far from this book has been successful. Last night I made the macaro-no cheese. It was easy to make - the longest bit was waiting an hour for the butternut squash to cook in the oven. It tasted good - not like mac cheese with real cheese - but certainly a really good, tasty and much healthier alternative! We enjoyed it.

I have also made in the last few days the no-bake strawberry vanilla cheesecake. This is essentially a raw cheesecake - though I suspect most people would ever know that upon tasting it unless they we told! My partner loves this cheesecake - it isn't cheap to make but is good. Tip - it needs a healthy dose of vanilla.

Others I have successfully made is the lasagna, brownies, mushroom burgers and various soups. They have all worked well - there have been no kitchen disasters!...

I would definitely recommend this book.

The recipes are user friendly and delicious. I'm just exploring this venue. The writing has an ambiance of friendship...simply being in the kitchen and simply talking about the meals for your family. I also bought a copy for my daughter, who has been following her on Instagram....me too. My daughter was so excited about the book and still is. I'd recommend it easily.

Logic models and learning

I teach a graduate course in program evaluation at Grand Valley State University, and I cover the development and use of logic models with my students. This book is a valuable resource for how to use logic models for program development, delivery and evaluation. In my opinion, an ideal world or programs is one where everyone had a logic model and that model was developed at the conception of the program. While it is never too late to develop a logic model for a program, the ideal time is when the program is being developed. This book is user friendly with its palatable writing style that is a pleasure to read. It provides the reader with strategies, and the nuts and bolts for how logic models can serve as the basis for our learning about our programs. I highly recommend this book and I am fortunate to be in West Michigan where I invite these authors to guest lecture to my class. Logic models are no longer just requirements from funders, they are a critical basis for why we have programs and their intended impact. This book is a helpful guide not only for individuals but also for organizations desiring to change their paradigm for how they view logic models, and those seeking to maximize the benefit from developing and using them.

A Road Map to Effective Organization Performance

This book is a marvel. It should be read by every nonprofit CEO and board member (and many others). It shows how logic models can usefully guide organizations from muddling to effectiveness. Lucid and jargon-free, the text is refreshingly understandable. It links theory and practice in ways that relate pragmatically to the nonprofit organizations I've served. New professionals will clearly benefit. Those professionals who have extensive experience will also gain by reading about the underpinnings of model development, which will stimulate their thinking and practice.

I suppose a rating reflects one's expectations. I was disappointed. If you want to understand the workable basics of logic models you could find that in a one page summary. This book is often repetitive and is filled with the kind of bloated and un-friendly writing that academics are infamous for. Why oh why is it so difficult to write conversationally? It is such a shame that this topic is not better presented since it's a very important one.

There's a great irony here, since evaluations call for two skills that some might think are mutually exclusive - creativity and disciplined reason. Before designing or evaluating a program it's necessary to IMAGINE all the ways it can go wrong. (If that's even possible.) This calls for a creative mind. But, evaluations also call for discipline and a mind focused on all the details. What is particularly upsetting about the tone created by books repetitiveness and confabulated language is that bright and creative minds are bound to read this book and come away numbed by it all instead of energized, curious, and innovative. This book speaks to functionaries, not visionaries. We need them both.

There is a lot of good info here and I recommend the book for its knowledge. You'll have to work through some frustration to get it but it is a worthwhile read. Just expect it to be work and not enjoyable. And it's a shame it is that way. Academics are well known for their poor writing. They use verbs like "utilize" instead of the quite capable verb "use" in order to bloat and impress, and It's sad that young people entering this and other fields become indoctrinated to such poor methods of writing and communication.

I would not recommend this book for teaching, but it would be a great guide to have by your side in the field as a reference while getting a program or evaluation. If a basic English writing style guide were applied to this book it would probably get 5 stars from me.

About the Author
Michael Green has had a long and interesting life. With first-class degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge, he combines the gifts of both theologian and evangelist. He is an Anglican minister, has travelled in every continent to spread the gospel, and has been special adviser in evangelism to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. He has taught in universities, been principal of a theological college, led a large university church, written more than 50 books and engaged fruitfully in church-planting overseas. He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife, Rosemary.

Christianity in a nut shell as originally taught.

No other book I have read is such a succinct
summary of Christianity as originally taught by Christ. It takes us back to the times, history and original context without the intervening centuries
of Church politics or dogma. Yet it is done in a practical, no nonsense, modern style acknowledging past/current religious and secular prejudices about Christ. In short, it is a discussion of Christianity that both Christians and non-Christians can be proud of without having to suspend their faith, reason, or intelect

this is the only book I ever buy in bulk - it is great to give to people who are unfamiliar with Christianity,Jesus Christ, the church, etc. This book is very easy to read and the content (although their is no scriptural reference) is very accurate Biblically. I encourage Christians to read this to further deeper your understanding of Jesus.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, I also purchase this book in bulk to pass out. It is excellent. It is small and short, but packed with a common way to understand Jesus in his day and what that means for us in our day. It has helped many people I know to understand the Gospels much better and it has given them a confidence in knowing Jesus Christ.
