The book covers features formed by impact, aeolian, magmatic, volcanic, tectonic, fluvial, lacustrine, marine and coastal, mass movement, sedimentary, desiccation, liquefaction, periglacial, glacial, nival, sublimation, collapse, weathering, and selective erosion or other, including complex processes.
Depending on the information and formation models available, the entries have different approaches. Some of them discuss their subject from the point of view of the inferred process or origin, others are morphology or description-based. As a default, entries focus on extraterrestrial landforms, while also mentioning their proposed terrestrial analogs. Most planetary landforms are not body-specific, but some have no known terrestrial counterparts. Named historic (obsolete) landform types are also included to provide reference for previous key research papers.
To make it easier to find features with related origins, the encyclopedia contains entries that list landforms based on their formative processes. It also lists body-specific features on Mercury (5 feature types), Venus (40), the Earth (13), the Moon (15), Mars (87), Io (7), Europa (17), Callisto (7), Titan (9), Triton (2), mid-sized satellites (8), and small bodies (3). Also included are entries on the 51 planetary feature descriptor terms approved by IAU.

About the Author
Henrik Hargitai (Ph.D., 2007) is a planetary geomorphologist, media historian, and senior lecturer at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary. He has Ph.D. in Earth Sciences and Philosophy (Aesthetics). He teaches planetary geomorphology (since 2002), planetary cartography, typography, and media history. His study fields include the distribution and morphology of the mountains of Io; lake ice and snow landforms; impact morphology; and the history and localization of the planetary nomenclature. He participated in two Mars Desert Research Station simulations. He is the chair of the ICA Commission on Planetary Cartography and editor of the Central European edition of the series of “multilingual maps of terrestrial planets and their moons” and its 2014 special edition for children. He is the producer of numerous public outreach programs in planetary science for radio.
  
Ákos Kereszturi (Ph.D.) is a geologist, working on planetary science and astrobiology as researcher at the Research Center for Astronomy and Earth Sciences, where he leads the Astrophysical and Geochemical Laboratory. He is member of the NASA Astrobiology Institute TDE Focus Group, teaches planetary science at Eötvös Loránd University, serves on the editorial board of two international and one national journals, is vice president of the Hungarian Astronomical Association, and contributes in the popularization activity of the Polaris Observatory in Budapest. His main research area is the geology of Mars, Europa satellite, craters of Mercury, water in the Solar System and beyond, Mars analog field work, survival of extremophile organisms, analysis of asteroid surfaces, and geological history based on mineral characteristics of meteorites.

A Much Needed Addition to the Christ-Centered Preaching Movement

Standing in the long line of Christ-centered preachers Zack Eswine offers Preaching in a Post-Everything World. Quite a bit has changed since the days of Geerhardus Vos and even since the first edition of Bryan Chapell's landmark manual Christ-centered Preaching. Eswine offers this book as a new chapter in the Christ-centered preaching movement.
Eswine writes in a way that will appeal to the preachers of a post-everything world. The seminary student or graduate will find this a needful corrective to the sometimes impractical world of academia. The non-seminary educated preachers will also benefit greatly from the non-technical everyday approach this book takes. Throughout this book Eswine holds the delicate balance of being Christ-centered and culturally relevant.

There were numerous times in this book when I had to put the book down and pray that the Lord would change my heart. The Lord used this book to reveal idols in my own heart and areas where I lack a pastor's heart. This book is both convicting and informative. This is one of those books that you have to read numerous times. Thankfully, there are helpful appendixes to assist in preparing sermons.

Honestly, there is very little that I could not recommend in this book. It is biblical, practical, well-written, attractive, informative; really everything you would desire in a preaching book. I would say that it will help you best if you have read Bryan Chapell's Christ-centered Preaching. In my opinion you cannot read one without the other.

Towards preaching that is Christ-centered and missional

The question behind Preaching to a Post-Everything World is simple: "Could I now reach who I once was?" Zack Eswine of Covenant Theological Seminary wants the answer to be yes.

"Until we remember that God drew us to himself and nourished us before we even knew where to find the book of Exodus in the Bible or that such things as Arminianism and Calvinism even existed, we will withhold from others the same mercy that was required for us to learn what we now know."

To reach others in a post-everything world, Eswine argues that we need "preachers who understand biblical exposition in missional terms." How do we become this type of preacher?

First, we must prepare the sermon for a post-everything world. This means that we preach what is real, not what is simplistic. We preach what is redemptive, sensing echoes from within the text and within our culture of the redemptive storyline of the Bible. It also means that we avoid moralism. Eswine provides guidance on how to do this while connecting to real listeners who don't know or accept the biblical story of redemption.

Second, we can learn from God's homiletical range. Eswine helps us consider the various ways that truth is communicated through Scripture, including the models of prophet, priest, and sage. He writes:

"Expanding our preaching postures and connecting them to identified cultural contexts will give us what we need to retool our biblical sermons to connect with our cultures. God has already provided the communication frameworks we need to meet the challenges we encounter."

Finally, we must engage the cultures of a post-everything world, recognizing the various issues that will arise as people hear Scripture. Eswine helps us deal with difficult topics and defeater beliefs, and to contextualize our message without compromising it. He also calls us to rely on the Holy Spirit and to engage in monastic practices, so that the "mess of life" does not "strip the missional preacher of his substance."

Eswine also includes two valuable appendices: one outlining a process for sermon preparation, and another that outlines a method for discerning culture.

The strength of this book is that it is both Christ-centered and missional. The weakness of this book is that the material is sometimes overwhelming. Eswine warns us that the book will alternate between an informal style and formal lectures. I struggled sometimes as his writing bounced between these two styles.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I read this book. There's a wealth of material, and I'm sure I'll return to the book many times in the future. If you are a preacher looking for ways to be both Christ-centered and missionally relevant in your preaching, then you'll find this book valuable.

Definitely, A Must Read To Keep Up To Date

There are great preaching books, there are terrible preaching books, and there are good preaching books. This book falls in the good category. The reason is because of the great start to the book. There are some elements within the model that it provides that are excellent. The insights are thought provoking, and helpful to the average preacher. One of the best thoughts is the Context of Reality. This is the idea of the emotions, a reality behind the text. What is happening? You can see the pain of a father, the doubt of the disciples, and allow this to come alive in the sermon. You are doing more than preaching a dead text, you are preaching the life of the text. These stories happened in time, and allow this in time factor to come out. I like the focus on preaching a redemptive message. End with hope. The author notes three major voices for this culture. There is the prophetic, which is helpful, but can be over done, and hence a post modern culture will tune it out. There is the voice of the priest, and there is the voice of the sage. You are preaching wisdom. The sections that break down the various topics, like war, are not as insightful, except for the one on idols in the culture. This was good, and insightful. It talked about making the idea of idol relevant in this culture, which it highly is for those who know how to address it. This book will not change everything you are doing, but it will certainly improve your preaching, and up date it for this world. This is an excellent book to read this year. I would put it on the preacher’s reading list. The last section, provides the model, or the four stories that are happening in society. This provides a easy framework to follow in a sermon. I like the format of it.

I thought this was a great continuation to Cordina's Royal Family and was glad to find it as I was sad for the series to end. I had to send to the UK for this one because I could not find it in the USA as with Cordina's Royal Family but it was worth the wait. The book had a great plot and was well written. Its about a young princess trying to make her mark on the world and trying to find herself among all of her royal duties. In doing so she finds true love and a passion for a new past time. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Sylvia Pankhurst, the former British Suffragette, devoted the last forty years of her life to Anti-Fascism and support for Ethiopia, for many centuries Africa's principal independent state. She responded to Mussolini's invasion of the country in 1935 by founding a weekly newspaper New Times and Ethiopia News, which she was to edit for twenty years. She protested against the Fascist use of poison-gas in Ethiopia, and published news of the Ethiopian patriot resistance. Her paper condemned Britain's "appeasement" of the Axis Dictators, and supported the Republican Government in the Spanish Civil War. After Mussolini's entry into the European War, on the side of Nazi Germany, she agitated against the return to Italy of her African colonies. Ever against colonialism, she clashed with the British Government in demanding the full restoration of Ethiopian independence, and advocated the "reunion" of the former Italian colony of Eritrea with Ethiopia. She raised funds for Ethiopia's first teaching hospital, and wrote extensively on Ethiopian art and culture. Having moved to Addis Ababa in 1956, with her son, the author, she founded a monthly journal, Ethiopia Observer, on many aspects of Ethiopian life and development. She died in 1960, and was buried with the Ethiopian Patriots, in front of Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa, in the presence of the Emperor.

Richard Pankhurst who has lived in Ethiopia for over thirty years, is Professor at the Institute of Ethiopian Studies, Addis Ababa. His most recent books include "A History of Ethiopian Towns from the Middle Ages to the Early Nineteenth Century" (1982) and "A Social History of Ethiopia" (1990), and "History of the Ethiopian Borderlands: Essays in Regional History" (1997).

An excellent portrait of Mrs. Punkhurst's life and work

In this beautifully written book, the author, the current leading Ethiopianst and the son of Mrs. Pankhurst, describes and reviews the work of his mother. The book introduces a new generation of Ethiopians and those interested in Ethiopian history to Mrs. Pankhurst's advocacy on behalf of Ethiopia during and after the Italian occupation of Ethiopia. This is definately a must read book!!!

Vanzant, a Yoruba priestess and metaphysician who lives in Maryland, writes with genuine depth of the struggles of black women and of the hope and strength that can be gained from honestly facing these "valleys" with compassion, forgiveness, and self-confidence. Vanzant outlines ten valleys; operative "laws" that govern them, e.g., "darkness must come to light"; the lesson that can be learned, e.g., forgiveness or humility; and the virtue to be acquired, e.g., consciousness or balance. She then devotes a chapter to each valley. Preceding each chapter is a meditation with the Mother of Creation who empowers her daughters. Highly recommended not only for African American women but for all who feel oppressed by the circumstances of their lives.

Very inspirational reading

I recently attended a meeting of United Methodist Women where the speaker, a lovely Black woman, referred to this book because her medical doctor had recommended it to her when she was feeling as though she were falling apart. Her references to portions of the book made me want to read it too. When I ordered the book and saw that it was written "for Black women" it occurred to me that ALL women, whether Black, White, Green or Purple, go theough the same types of trials and difficulties in their journeys through this life, and I have bought a copy for my church library and have recommended it to several of my friends. It also occurs to me that many men would benefit from the heartwarming and inspirational stories in this book, and it is a great resource book for devotional talks. You can pick it up, open it ANYWHERE, and read for a long time or a short time and be thoroughly inspired. We are all God's children, and we need the positive vibes that this book offers.

Clear your head

You certainly do not have to be either black or a woman to benefit from this book; you just have to be human. Ms. Vanzant's conversational style and prosaic examples will lead the reader through almost every type of relationship issue you could possibly find yourself in and then lead you out the other side. This book has given me real clarity and sound practical advice for digging out of the mess that is my life. I wish I had read this book before "In the Meantime." When I started "Getting Through the Meantime" I realized I was still mired in the valleys of my life and was in no way ready for the "Meantime." Facing reality is the first step in cleaning up your life, and Value in the Valley really slaps you up the side of head!

Iyanla does it again!

I have several books from Iyanla Vanzant. I love her direct approach to problems that come up in peoples daily lives. I also think she is one of the best spiritual teachers around, she knows her stuff and presents it all with such grace. She has to be doing something right if she co stars with Oprah on Life Class. Definitely up there with the other spiritual teachers such as Deepak Chopra, Maryann Williamson,Caroline Myss, Wayne Dyer, etc. Iyanla has a no nonsense, put your big girl panties on style of her own that you just gotta love. Check her out on her hit TV show on OWN, Iyanla Fix My Life. You will be a fan forever! Namaste.
